Where:Vicinos Italian Restaurant, 959 Sligo Ave., Silver Spring, Md. Meals are $20. a person, which includes entree, soda, tea or coffee,tip and 50-50 ticket.
The next regular club meeting will be on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, 7 P.M. at the Vicino's Italian Restaurant, Georgia Ave and Sligo PDG's Kelly Randolph and Rich Barb and also Lions Lois Barb and Charles Spadone who will discuss, LCIF, Lions Centenial, Leaderdog, Membership and International Convention. The club members Lions Judi Fien-Helfman and PDG Michael Bigler with assistance from Lions Karen Buster, Lee Wilson and Bob Gray from DC Clubs and the Washington Lions Foundation, performed 118 eye exams for the students at Cesar Chavez (Parkside Middle)Charter School at 3701 Hayes St. Northeast Washington on Friday, Nov. 18 8 am - noon. Should you need assistance with an eye examination or in obtaining eyeglasses please contact us.The Takoma Park Lions Club collects used eyeglasses so that they may be recycled and provided to someone in need. If you have used prescription or nonprescription glasses or sunglasses in your drawers, desks, or cars, you can donate them now! Children’s glasses are especially needed. Donation boxes are located at the Takoma Vision Center,Montgomery County Health Dept., located on Dennis Ave. in Silver Spring. Takoma Park Firehouse, Library and Station One Restaurant or dropped off at the Torchinsky Hebrew Funeral Home on Carroll St., NW, near the Takoma Metro. Any correspondence may be made to Takoma Park Lions, P.O Box 11226, Takoma Park, Md 20912. The club collected over 300 coats, gloves, scarfs and hats in the community.They have been donated to the local shelter and to Adventist Community services.Drop off boxes were at Ace Hardware, Takoma and the lobby at the Takoma Park Police Dept.Many thanks to the community and to the Police Dept and Ace Hardware for there much appreciated participation.
Takoma Lions has ended their annual Ham and Peanut sale.They should be delivered before the holidays. The Takoma Park Lions Club actively supports community functions and charitable organizations, including: Blood Drives at Holy Cross Hospital,Lions Camp Merrick - summer camp for children with sight loss and diabetes,Vision testing and eye glasses for the needy, Leader dogs for the visually impaired/blind,Used eye glasses and hearing aid collections, Lions Vision Research Foundation -Wilmer Eye Institute, Takoma Park Volunteer Fire Department, Takoma Park Annual Halloween Party,Takoma Park Independence Day, Takoma Park Recreation Department, Annual Thanksgiving Dinners in association with the TPVFD,Toys for Tots in association with the TPVFD,22-C Youth Band and Music Scholarship Program, Annual Takoma Park Lions Police and Fire Awards Program,Other District and International Programs.
